Creating a Musician Friendly “Artist Driven Label” Environment

Eleven Thirty Records is a label that strives to create long-term partnerships with some of the most talented, hard-working artists of today. In constant changing environment of the music business more and more established artists are turning away from the world of major labels and moving towards the independent sector of the music business. Many artists have learned how to run their own businesses but either lack the experience, time, contacts, desire or financial punch to be an effective label.

The goal of Eleven Thirty is to help support these musicians by giving them the ability to build major awareness and visibility for their records at retail, press, radio, online and at other outlets and allow them to focus on the music, performance and other aspects of their business. The Artist associated with Eleven Thirty Records will receive the professional backend support a traditional record label provides while giving the Artist complete artistic control over their music and product. Additionally, unlike traditional record deals, Eleven Thirty’s Artist-friendly approach allows the Artist to retain full ownership of their masters. Simply put, it is a label created by and for artists and music lovers. We will strive to put out records that are focused on good music, devoid of any genres, niche, trends or stereotypes but focus on career artists with a message and purpose and a passion in their artist endeavors that strikes a nerve in us all.

Eleven Thirty will generate a consistent, focused, well-designed marketing plan that fits the specific requirements of each project in order to maximize its sales potential and provide it the attention it deserves.

Eleven Thirty Records is a subsidiary of Redeye Distribution, Inc. and is exclusively distributed by that company. Redeye got its start by focusing on developing regional artists from the southeast to help them build national exposure and awareness. Those early efforts along with lots of dedication and hard work allowed us to grow into one of the top independent distribution companies in the country, helping break such artists as: John Mayer, Shawn Mullins and the Polyphonic Spree.

Redeye is the owner of Yep Roc Records, a highly respected independent international label, which has gained success with releases by: Paul Weller, The Minus 5, Nick Lowe, Caitlin Cary, Los Straitjackets, Southern Culture on the Skids, Ken Stringfellow, The Iguanas, Doyle Bramhall, The Rev. Horton Heat, Marah, Billy Bragg and many others.

Redeye has also become very well known as a national distributor for many exclusive Artists-ran labels from such artists as: Martin Sexton, The Pernice Brothers, The Supersuckers, New Model Army, Melissa Ferrick, Afroman, Pharcyde, Jeru the Damaja, 2 Skinnie J’s, Athenaeum, Little Feat, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, David Garza, Widespread Panic, Robyn Hitchcock and many others.

It is in this spirit, Eleven Thirty Records was born. A label that gives the artist full creative control, ownership of their songs as if it was their own label but creates a partnership team around it to establish a solid plan of publicity, marketing, promotion and distribution to allow the artist to have the same benefits of a full blown label.

Redeye is open with all major chains (Best Buy, Borders, Wherehouse, Transworld, Musicland, Barnes & Noble, Handleman, Tower, Virgin, etc), onestops (AEC, Super D, Baker & Taylor, Galaxy, Arrow, etc.), key independents (Twist & Shout, Plan 9, Amoeba, Easy Street, Newbury Comics, Waterloo, Cactus, Schoolkids, etc.) digitial retailers (iTUNES, Napster, Music Match, etc) and online retailers (Amazon, Insound, Miles of Music, etc.). Redeye is headquartered just west of Chapel Hill, NC and has a staff of over 30 personnel in it’s main office and warehouse. Redeye’s field staff includes offices in San Francisco/Sacramento, Chicago, Dallas, Boston and NYC. In 2001, 2003 and 2004 Redeye was named Distributor of the Year (Small Division) by NARM (National Association of Record Merchandisers) and grew over 30% over those two years, while the industry saw over a 20% decline in record sales.

Eleven Thirty Records will certainly be a priority for Redeye and continue to establish the company as one of the top independent record labels & distribution companies in the country.
